This morning, South Australian police have arrested and charged 61-year-old Domenic Perre in relation to the 1994 National Crime Authority (NCA) bombing.

Perre has been charged with the murder of WA Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Bowen and the attempted murder of Lawyer Peter Wallis.

The arrest follows a two-and-a-half year investigation by SA Police and other agencies, along with a review of the evidence gathered by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

At 9.15am on Wednesday March 2, 1994, a bomb exploded at the NCA office killing Detective Sergeant Bowen and causing injuries to Mr Wallis.

WAPU President George Tilbury said it meant a lot to the WA Police Family to finally have someone charged with the murder.

"At the time, the death of Geoffrey Bowen rocked the WA Police Family and 24 years later, it is a major achievement to have someone charged," Mr Tilbury said.

“I want to congratulate all of the investigators involved for never giving up.

"Murdering a police officer is totally inexcusable and justice now needs to be done.”

Mr Tilbury said WAPU would continue to support the Bowen Family.
