The WA Police Union Board of Director election process was completed today.

The results of the election are as follows:

President: Harry Arnott
Senior Vice President: Mick Kelly
Vice President: Brandon Shortland
Treasurer: Ward Adamson

WAPU President George Tilbury said: “It has been an honour and privilege to serve our Members for the past six and a half years.

“Together we have achieved a number of incredible improvements for Members in the legislative arena including mandatory sentences for offenders who evade police, mandatory blood testing for offenders and closing the loophole which saw offenders given parole and not serve the minimum mandatory sentence for assaulting a police officer.

“We worked hard to gain an election commitment from the McGowan Government for a Police Compensation Scheme and changes to Section 8 to ensure medically retired police officers exit with dignity.

“Last week’s Redress Scheme announcement was also a major win, one which has taken my full presidency to achieve.

“I will continue to serve the Members over the coming weeks as President and I wish Harry and the new Board all the best for the challenges they face in the future.”

President-elect Harry Arnott said he was looking forward to serving all Members.

“I thank George, Brandon and the outgoing Board of Directors for all of their hard work and service to WAPU,” Mr Arnott said.

“Our Union faces significant challenges over the coming term and I thank the Board-elect for entrusting me with the role of representing WAPU through this period.”

The new Executive Members and Board of Directors will commence office from the rise of Annual Conference on November 20, for the next three years.

Mr Tilbury and Mr Arnott are not available for further comment.
