Tilbury Traffic
On Tuesday 11 July, the WA Police Union escalated its campaign for better pay and conditions.

During this phase, WAPU is instructing Members to:

  • Use discretion to issue cautions instead of infringements for minor traffic and liquor offences;
  • Conduct highly visible welfare checks on speed camera operators;
  • Do not summons offenders to Court until Thursday, 7 September 2017 (State Budget Day); and
  • Continue all actions from Phase 1.

President George Tilbury said the Government was only concerned with the bottom line so this action would hit the Government where it hurts, its hip pocket.

“Our officers feel betrayed after the Government took the unprecedented step of changing its wages policy mid-negotiation,” he said.

“Millions of dollars will be lost in revenue for this State Government if they do not intervene and honour the original agreement that was on the table.

The campaign received significant media coverage, including national exposure on Channel 10's The Project, which can be viewed online.
